At Excel, our goal is to provide high-quality, effective, intensive Spanish instruction customised to meet the needs of each individual and to immerse students in the culture and history of Peru. We aim to do this in a relaxed, informal and friendly environment, and we pride ourselves on the friendly family atmosphere we are able to create.
Excel's Teachers
The keystone to our success is our valued staff. Excel is owned and operated by native-speaking Peruvians, and all of our Spanish teachers are qualified and experienced native speakers of Spanish. Some of our teachers specialize in beginners Spanish while others work mostly with intermediate and advanced students.
All are enthusiastic instructors teach Spanish because they love doing it.
The teaching staff at Excel are supported by equally motivated secretarial staff in our main office. They are intimately involved with the welfare of students and are always available to answer questions and deal with any problems that may arise during their stay. Excel maintains a study room, and students may also use the office for receiving mail, e-mail messages and important phone calls.
Excel's Approach to Language Acquisition
Excel offers its students an exciting approach to language acquisition which focuses on the development of proficiency in the four basic communication skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and all of the activities in the program are carefully selected to help develop proficiency in communication rather than simply memorizing grammatical structures. Staff are encouraged to adapt course material to meet the needs of the individuals and Excel programs are conducted in a relaxed and somewhat informal manner, with the emphasis on providing interesting and comprehensible class materials that encourage student involvement and participation. Classes are supplemented by visits, cultural activities and videos.
Excel's Location at the Center of the Universe
We are ideally located near the center of Cusco, the wonderful, historical, imperial city of the Incas, the Incan center of the universe, and jumping off point for travels to Machu Picchu and the Sacred Urubamba River Valley.
As part of the program we provide - at a special discounted rate - a tour to the world famous Machu Picchu. Students of three weeks or more are also entitled to discounted rates on tours of Cusco and the Sacred Urubamba River Valley of the Incas.
These are an essential component of the excel experience and provide students with an important cultural perspective from which to better understand the Spanish Language. Tours are supplemented by regular weekend activities.
